Why Your 20’s Is The Most Important Time Of Your Life

Maybe you find this statement ” 20’s Is The Most Important Time Of Your Life “a bit overrated, as science claims 0-5 years is the most important age of lifetime.

I agree as physical development, brain development, and cognitive development are all built in this novice age. But the important point to note is that we don’t have much, in fact, no control over our bringing up at such young age. We are ourselves figuring out what is right by learning from our parents( mostly) and neighbor’s environment. So had this blog post addressed to parents I would have been writing about why the first 7 years of life are the most important time of life.

I like getting older. When you’re in your twenties you’re really forging for your future. Things take shape later on.

This article is for you. You are in your 20s or about to enter the age. In the 20s we are in a transition phase. We have learned much till this age and this is time we got to apply all of this independently. We can not only distinguish between right and wrong or good or bad but also get the power to take decisions of our own life.

Hence 20s or say after 18 years of age is the most important time of your life.

You feel the pressure of society for the first time in life,

You are responsible

An, you want to live fully as they say ” Zindagi Nai Milegi Dobara”

All this together at times lead us to take the wrong decisions which we suffer in later stages of life. The later stages I am talking about in which we witness results are ranging from 30 to lifetime.

There are some specific problems that pertain to Indian society girls :

Marriage: if a girl is over 25 at many places in India it is considered as late for marriage. This is social pressure every girl has to go through but fortunately, the scenario is getting better day by day.

Security: I even don’t need to elaborate on this horrific situation going throughout the country. We need to educate society and at the same time empower ourselves to fight any such situation.

Patriarchy: Even though society is progressing the mental status is still primitive at major places and girls are the worst sufferers of this system.

Now let’s move on to general issues people in their 20s face all over the world. 20’s Is The Most Important Time Of Your Life

What kind of difficulties does a young person face?

1. Physical changes: Changes that take place due to hormonal differences.

2. Behavioral Changes: Developmental changes that make children more independent and wanting to try new things and take risks.

3. Educational Challenges: Academic pressure and stress related to studies.

4. Psychological Changes: Changes that affect mental health that creates mood disorders and anxiety among adolescents.

5. Social Changes: Adolescence is the time during which social circle expands and youth seem to be occupied with friends and interacting on social media sites.

6. Emotional Problems: Youth tend to show strong, intense emotions and unpredictable moods. This is because they are beginning to express emotions in a mature way.

Let’s Dig into the solution

How can you make adolescence a period of opportunity and positive development?

Know what is right for you:

Try to make decisions based on your moral values. ‘Right’ is what helps you achieve goals and gives you prosperity on the other hand ‘Wrong’ is what obstructs your goal and makes you incompatible. Decide wisely on what is right or wrong based on what is more important to you.

  • Set a plan for your life:

Become goal-oriented. Deciding what you want to achieve by the time you are 30 or 50 years of age and setting targets to achieve those goals will help you become successful. Make plans on how you have to go about getting what you need. Go through the detailed Design Your Destiny Framework.

  • Develop right habits :

Habits like getting up early, reading books, taking care of yourself, eating right are laid as the foundation for good health and good life at this age only.

  • Learn new skills:

Prepare yourself to work as hard as possible and make yourself ready to face difficult situations and overcome disappointments. As young adults, you can acquire great skills such as painting skills, communication skills, software skills, writing skills, and many more. These skills will make you independent.

  • Develop problem-solving and decision-making techniques:

These are the most important concepts for life. As an adolescent, you will need to take the toughest decisions such as decisions related to studies, career, and use of drugs and alcohol. You’re supposed to weigh the pros and cons of each of these and think properly before you make decisions.

  • Respect your parents:

Your parents are the ones who always care about your well-being and keep your needs above their own. You should respect them because they taught you how to walk. Discuss all your issues with your parents. Parents are the first people who deserve your gratitude and obedience. So, always show love and respect towards them.

  • Make your Leisure time productive:

Leisure time not only brings you fun and happiness but also brings to you an opportunity to do something different from your routine work. You must spend a part of your leisure time having fun and the rest of your time on self-improvement activities such as creative writing, exercising, interior decorating, and acquiring knowledge about various interesting topics.

  • Choose the right friends:

Friends have a major influence on how you think, feel, and behave. Friends can have a high impact on the quality of life. Choose friends with similar values and common goals. Choose friends who can bring balance in areas where you are weaker, who motivate and encourage you, and share similar interests. You can count on friends who helped to bring out the best in you without expecting anything in return.

  • Don’t get too addicted to social media:

Too many Connections on social media may increase your stress level. Some of the young people are losing sleep because of their extended use of social media at night. Students are getting more distracted from their academic routine during their school and college days. Limit the use of social media and use it positively to avoid suffering from its negative impacts.

  • Say NO to any kind of drugs:

Taking drugs affects not just your physical and mental health, but your whole life. Just a single pill of drugs is enough to risk the whole life of a person. A lot of adolescents these days are victims of drug abuse. Addiction is a disease that affects your brain and behavior. When you get addicted to these drugs, you can’t resist the urge to use them even after knowing how much harm these drugs may cause to you, they make you lose control and can lead to damaging behaviors.

How can the age of 18 to 25 destroy you?

The prevalence of social media and digital communication has changed the way how adolescents interact with people as well as the way they behave, communicate, sleep, exercise, and make use of the benefits given to them.

Here are the main factors that lead to the destruction of young adults:

  • Depression:

Adolescents often seem to be depressed and stressed due to academic and social pressure. Suicide due to depression is the leading cause of death in people aged 18-25.

  • Sexual Activity:

There are millions of reported cases of early pregnancy and childbirth each year causing death of girls aged 18-20 and complications in pregnancy and childbirth.

  • Alcohol, Tobacco, and Drug Use:

Drinking alcohol and the use of tobacco by teens is a major cause of destruction among adolescents which causes injuries, violence, and premature deaths. It also leads to health problems in the future.

  • Extensive use of Social Media:

Extensive use of social media can cause negative effects on youth such as sleep deprivation, social isolation, impractical expectations, lower self-esteem, cyberstalking, and cyberbullying.

  • Insufficient parental supervision:

Children who don’t get proper parental supervision often have lower self-esteem. They lack confidence and become vulnerable to aggression and become emotionally unstable.
