Why you should travel alone? Alone? Are you sure you want me to travel alone? Has word alone been added by mistake or you have gone crazy! Is this what’s going through your mind?
Don’t worry I have added the Alone term deliberately. And I mean it, you should try this experience at least once in your lifetime.
What authorizes me to write article like this, I am a traveler. I travel whenever I get a chance, I go local, eat local. I have traveled to 15 countries and 20 cities in India.
“The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.” – said Saint Augustine.
Traveling itself is so beneficial for all of us because it simply expands our horizons and makes us realize the importance of exploring and not living in one place all the time. Business travel is one thing, but I’m talking about packing your bags, logging out of your email account, and disconnecting from your normal routine for a week or more.
there’s ample research to suggest it’s highly beneficial for your physical, mental, and emotional health as well.
“Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before.”
– Dalai Lama
Taking on the world without a companion is one of the most liberating, life-changing things you can do as a traveler. Is it scary? Yes. Completely out of your comfort zone? Most likely. But the benefits far outweigh the cons with solo travel. Having time to ponder, reflect and enjoy your own company not only does wonders for mental wellbeing, but it can actually improve your relationships with others. There’s no other life experience quite like it, and everyone should travel alone at least once.
But what about safety, you say? As long as you plan, research, and take the right precautions, you shouldn’t have any problems.
1. It’s An Opportunity To Cultivate Mindfulness.
Purposeful solitude can be one of the best ways to cultivate mindfulness, the targeted awareness of the present moment (and a scientifically-proven antidote to stress). Traveling alone is the perfect time to be mindful. Free from the distractions of daily life, you can focus your full attention on absorbing the present moment with all your senses.
2. It Could Alleviate Depression.
Taking vacations and enjoying intentional solitude both have the potential to alleviate mild depression. A Dutch study found that the anticipation of an upcoming vacation boosted feelings of happiness and well-being for up to eight weeks before the trip. Time spent in solitude can ward off depression.
3.It’ll give your confidence a boost
There is something to be said for heading out into the world on your own with no social safety net, so to speak. Forging a path in solitude and making your way through unknown terrain can do wonders for your self-confidence and personal authenticity.
You can see the importance of “me time” only when you traveled somewhere alone. You will start appreciating your own company much more and enjoying the time you spend on your own. Being alone on the road is also a great way to connect with your higher self spiritually and enhance your relationship with yourself.
5.It is good for your well-being
Each one of us can admit that traveling makes us happy and excited. It can reduce stress, calm your body and mind and also show you one of the most important reasons we live on this planet: to reunite with the natural world and be part of every beautiful place on the Earth.
6.Become a better problem-solver
Groups are made up of different sets of skills. But you’ll be forced to figure things out on your own. There’s no one to ask if you can’t fix that hole in your jacket or work out bus times in a foreign language. By the time you return, you’ll be excellent at problem-solving and can apply those skills to your work.
7. There’s Plenty Of Time For Reflection & Introspection.
And it’s true: Getting to really know yourself is a wonderful and empowering byproduct of a solo journey. Like writing in a journal — another great form of stress-relief — traveling alone allows you to witness how you react to different situations. Those reflections can help you gain a deeper understanding of who you are and what matters to you. Having a stronger sense of self and feeling more self-assured will only contribute to a calmer, more centered state.
“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all”
~ Helen Keller
From childhood, girls are the ones who have been constantly guided throughout life and are not able to realize their true potential. Their true characteristics, decision-making gets shaded for a lifetime seldom.
About safety? As long as you plan, research, and take the right precautions, you shouldn’t have any problems. Internet is full of information and Google is our best friend.
“If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be.”
~ Maya Angelou
If there was one piece of advice I have for people today to experience more joy in life, it is to travel more. I don’t mean taking vacations or going on pre-planning trips, I mean making the journey out to somewhere you’ve never gone before with an open schedule, to let life show you what opportunities were waiting for you that you couldn’t have even imaged before.
Traveling is wonderful in many ways. It captures us with a sense of wanderlust and has us longing for more destinations to visit, cultures to experience, food to eat, and people to meet. As amazing as traveling is, most of us think we need to wait until our later years to really explore a lot of the world. I want to inspire you to travel more as soon as COVID ends.
